EUROPEAN CHART OF WOMEN’S RIGHTS IN SPORTS

The European Charter of Women’s Rights in Sports is addressed to sports organisations and federations, sports participants, supporter groups, public authorities, EU institutions and all organisations that may have a direct or indirect impact on the promotion of “sport for all” and particularly for campaigning in favour of equal opportunities between women and men in sport.
This Charter about gender equality in sport is addressed to all people without any distinction of culture, religion, age, mental and physical capacities, sexual orientation or social standing.
It is important to emphasize that this Charter embodies universal values of equity and it provides specific measures to reinforce gender equality policies for targeted groups. Read more »

UISP PRESENTED IN BRUSSELS ON MAY 24TH THE NEW EUROPEAN CHART ON WOMEN RIGHTS IN SPORT. MAY 26TH WILL BE THE TURN OF MILAN

On May 24th Uisp presented in the European Parliament of Brussels the European chart of women rights in sport. The document was elaborated by Uisp in collaboration with its partners in project “Olympia: equal opportunities via and within Sport“. The meeting showed the results of a 15 months long project and it has been an occasion to discuss about genre equal opportunities.

The chart is the renewing of a document produced by Uisp in 1985 and adopted by European Parliament two years after.
“Comparing with the first version – explain Daniela Conti, Olympia project coordinator – the actual chart keeps more attention to multicultural issues, and in general to all kinds of cultural and religious discriminations. It also tells about disability, and there is a specific chapter on sexual orientation. For the first time is faced the issue of relation between women and organised fan world”. Read more »

OLYMPIA PROJECT: IN THE MUSEUM OF SPORTS – PARIS, THE OPENING OF THE LAST ROUND TABLE DURING THE INITIATIVE “NUIT DU SPORT FEMININ”

In Paris, on December 9th and on 10th, took place the last round table of Olympia project – Equal opportunities via and within sport. On Thursday, in the evening, the Museum of Sport was the setting for the opening event, organized by Lycra- Ligue International Contre le Racisme et l’Antisemitisme – project partners, and Sportiva (-info.com), during the “Nuit du sport feminin” (The night of sports for women).
Attended: Chantal Jouanno, French Minister of Sport, a representatives of many sport federations and all Olympia project partners.
Friday, instead, was dedicated to write of the recommendations that will build the structure of the “Chart of women in sport”.

“THE CARE OF THE BODY”: A SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE, SUPPORTED BY UISP GYMNASTIC LEAGUE AND UISP WOMEN COORDINATION.

Could the sport, in particular sport associations and organizations, contribute to the development of a new Humanism? Could the sport activities contribute to create a new idea of a culture that focuses on the welfare, based on equal opportunities between women and men in sport and in daily life? From these questions is started “The care of the body. Reflections on weaving of the body, movement, emotions beyond the emotional illiteracy “, the seminar supported by the Uisp gymnastic league and Uisp women coordination. On November 13th – 14th in Bologna took place the activities. The main topic was the possibility to actively build a better society, through the care and the rediscovery of first environment that person lives: the body, as an important mean of relationship. UISP FOR GENDER POLICIES: “THE CARE OF THE BODY”.

On November 13th and 14th in Uisp Bologna Committee, will take place the workshop “The care of the body“. Subtitle: “Reflections on weaving of the body, movement, emotions, beyond the emotional illiteracy”.
“Uisp Women Coordination gave a mandate to the Gymnastic League to organize this event – explains Rita Scalambra, president of Uisp Gymnastic League – The goal is to learn to see the body in a positive and conscious way. On Saturday will be a series of workshops and focus groups focused on the breath and on the expressiveness and movement. Then the results of these activities will be discussed in a common debate, which will also see the participation of some representatives of the Gramsci Institute and the Faculty of Education in Bologna”. In Vienna took place the second Round Table of Uisp project Olympia – Equal Opportunities Within Sport, an initiative funded by the European Union which started in January 2010.
In the days of September 9th and 10th, the agenda meeting includes the topic “The positive effects regarding the involvement of women in the sporting world”.
We asked Daniela Conti, Olympia project coordinator, and Rita Scalambra, Uisp national president of Gymnastics league to speak about the results of this important event.

VIENNA ROUND TABLE : 9 – 10 September


On 9 -10 September in Vienna will take place next round table of Olympia – Equal Opportunities within Sport -  the Uisp project funded by EU. The topic of the discussion is “the positive effects regarding the involvement of women in the sporting world” .  The goal:  to act on the mechanisms of women exclusion and to put in discussion the referring cultural model means to modify actual levelling of sport on male appearance, needs and values that today characterize sport itself.
